Iran accuses Trump of betraying democracy after strikes
Iran accuses Trump of lying to his voters and betraying democracy
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi accused Donald Trump of lying to his voters and betraying democracy.
Araqchi's statements came after US military strikes hit three nuclear sites in Iran on Saturday, June 21.
He claimed Trump, who was elected on a platform to end costly 'forever wars,' had deceived his own voters.
Araqchi condemned Trump's actions as an 'act of aggression' against Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities and a 'flagrant breach of the UN charter'.
The US strikes followed earlier attacks by Israel against Iran on June 13, which Israel justified by claiming Iran was nearing nuclear weapons development.
