Streeting praised Rayner's experience as a care worker, linking it to a new £500m investment for a “fair pay agreement” for care workers; he added, “and we want her back as well”.
Rayner had previously resigned from her roles after admitting she did not pay sufficient stamp duty on a property purchase.
In his speech, Streeting also strongly criticised Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, labelling him a “con artist” and a “snake oil salesman”.
Streeting accused Farage of advocating for a privatised NHS and seeking to remove immigrant health workers, stating that Labour would stand by these workers.
