Five charities have removed Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, as a patron following the emergence of leaked emails concerning her correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein.
The leaked emails reportedly show the Duchess apologising to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein in April 2011, referring to him as a "steadfast, generous and supreme friend".
This apology was sent weeks after she publicly stated she would "never have anything to do with" Epstein again, having previously accepted £15,000 from him.
Charities including Julia’s House, The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, Prevent Breast Cancer, Teenage Cancer Trust, and the British Heart Foundation announced their decisions, citing the inappropriateness of her continued association.
A spokesperson for the Duchess claimed the email was sent under duress to "assuage Epstein and his threats" of defamation, stating she was "taken in by his lies".
