3.0 magnitude earthquake shakes tri-state area
  • An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 struck New York and New Jersey late on Saturday night.
  • The epicenter was located in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, just north of Newark, approximately six miles below ground.
  • Tremors were felt across all five boroughs of New York City and throughout New Jersey.
  • New York City Emergency Management advised residents to check for hazards, such as shifted items, falling debris, or cracks, and to be prepared for possible aftershocks.
  • No injuries or significant damage were reported in either New York or New Jersey following the quake, which is considered unusual for the region.
