Mark Carney sworn in as Canada’s 24th prime minister
Canada's Liberal Party, led by Mark Carney, has secured a fourth term in office and will form a minority government.
The election became a referendum of sorts on US President Donald Trump, whose threats against Canada's economy and sovereignty fueled nationalist sentiment and a Liberal comeback.
While the Liberals won, they have so far fallen short of a majority in the House of Commons and will require support from other parties to pass legislation.
The win marks a significant turnaround for the Liberals, who trailed in polls earlier in the year before Trump's actions galvanised Canadian support.
The new government faces challenges, including a cost-of-living crisis and the potential impact of US tariffs on the Canadian economy.
