  • Musk said on X the bill would increase the budget deficit to $2.5 trillion and burden American citizens with “crushingly unsustainable debt.”
  • White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that Trump is aware of Musk's stance and maintains his support for the bill.
  • The bill, currently being debated in the Senate, would add $3.8 trillion to the country’s debt over the next 10 years.
  • The bill would unlock $4.5 billion in tax cuts, but a preliminary analysis suggests it would disproportionately benefit higher-income households.
