Two hurricanes perform ‘waltz’ while approaching US coastline in rare weather event
Two hurricanes 'waltz' on approach to US coast
Satellite footage has captured Hurricanes Humberto and Imelda appearing to "waltz" together off the US east coast.
This interaction is due to the Fujiwhara effect, where two nearby storms influence each other's paths.
The Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) shared the footage, describing it as a "captivating performance".
Despite their close proximity, neither hurricane is expected to make landfall, with Imelda being pulled northeast and Humberto heading into the Atlantic.
