Drone hovers above bubbling lava spewing from Iceland volcano in an earlier eruption
Sunddhnúksgígar, a volcano south of Reykjavik, Iceland, erupted on Tuesday, prompting evacuations of nearby areas including the popular Blue Lagoon resort.
This is the 11th volcanic eruption in the region since 2021.
A red alert has been issued, though air traffic remains unaffected.
Around 40 homes were evacuated in the fishing town of Grindavik.
Iceland has seen increased volcanic activity on the Reykjanes peninsula in recent years, with experts predicting this pattern could last for decades or even centuries.
