Kneecap’s Mo Chara appears in court on terrorism charge

  • Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, known as Mo Chara from the band Kneecap, has appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court facing a terrorism charge.
  • He is accused of displaying a flag in support of Hezbollah, a proscribed terrorist organisation, at a gig in November. He was released on unconditional bail to reappear in court on 20 August.
  • Large crowds of Kneecap fans gathered outside the court to show support for Mo Chara, holding placards.
  • Kneecap has publicly stated that they have never supported either Hamas or Hezbollah, both of which are banned in the UK.
