Labour entering ‘second chapter’ following Rayner resignation
Labour government ‘moving forward with strongest team’ following Cabinet reshuffle after Rayner resignation
The Labour government is "moving forward with the strongest team" following Angela Rayner's resignation, according to newly appointed Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, Darren Jones.
Ms Rayner resigned after admitting she failed to pay the correct stamp duty on her Hove flat.
Mr Jones said that Sir Keir Starmer's Cabinet has entered a "second chapter" focused on strengthening Downing Street's operation.
He added that the prime minister had already been considering a reshuffle, which was brought forward by Ms Rayner's departure.
