Mahmoud Khalil welcomed back to NYC with cheers after release from ICE detention
Pro-Palestinian activist and Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil was welcomed back to New York City on the weekend, following his release from ICE detention.
Khalil had been held for over three months in a Louisiana detention center before his release on Friday.
He was released on bail, with ongoing legal challenges against his arrest and potential removal from the country in federal and immigration courts.
Upon his return, Khalil was reunited with his wife and son, who was born while he was detained.
