Dramatic rescue after sailboat collides with barge in Miami

  • A sailboat carrying five children and one adult capsized in Biscayne Bay off Miami Beach after colliding with a barge.
  • The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. on Monday near Star Island.
  • Two people died at Jackson Memorial Hospital, and a third victim was left unresponsive following the collision.
  • The children, aged between eight and 12, were participating in a youth sailing programme through the Miami Youth Sailing Foundation.
  • The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the U.S. Coast Guard are currently investigating the incident.
