US-based chipmaker Nvidia has become the world's first company to reach a $4 trillion market capitalisation.
The milestone was achieved on Wednesday as its shares continued to rise, surpassing $164 soon after trading opened.
Nvidia's success is largely attributed to its central role in the AI revolution, with its data centre business producing essential semiconductor chips.
CEO Jensen Huang's firm surpassed rivals Apple and Microsoft to achieve this valuation, which was described as a "historic moment for US markets" by analyst Matt Britzman.
Despite a brief dip following Donald Trump's tariff announcement in early April, Nvidia's shares have risen over 14 per cent in the last month and 21 per cent in 2025.
