At least 900 tourists are stranded near Peru's ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu following a protest.
Train services operated by PeruRail were suspended after tracks in the mountainous Cusco region were blocked by rocks due to clashes between local residents and authorities.
The protest stems from a dispute over the concession for tourist bus operator Consettur, with locals demanding transparency and fairness in the process of replacing the company.
While 1,400 tourists were evacuated on Monday, 900 remained stranded in Aguas Calientes, the town closest to the cultural site.
New7Wonders, a campaign group, warned that the escalating conflict could damage Machu Picchu's credibility as one of the New Wonders of the World.
