Beauty pageant contestants flee as Philipines earthquake hits Miss Asia competition
A 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck the island of Cebu in the Philippines on Tuesday, causing beauty pageant contestants to flee the stage during the Miss Asia-Pacific competition.
The Miss Asia-Pacific International Organisation confirmed that all competitors and staff were safe following the incident.
The earthquake's epicentre was identified as Bogo City, 95km from Cebu, which has since declared a “state of calamity”.
The disaster has resulted in at least 69 confirmed deaths and 150 injuries.
