Trump polls higher on immigration and crime than on the economy
Labor market revisions show 911,000 fewer jobs than first reported
A new Reuters/Ipsos poll indicates that a majority of Americans, 53 percent, disapprove of President Donald Trump's handling of the economy, with only 36 percent approving.
Just 30 percent of respondents supported his management of the cost of living, following a grim August jobs report that showed only 22,000 jobs were added.
This economic blow was compounded by federal findings that the US added 911,000 fewer jobs in the 12 months through March than initially reported.
President Trump's overall approval rating stood at 42 percent in the new poll.
While he fared better on immigration and crime policies, with 42 percent and 43 percent approval, respectively, he still did not achieve majority support in these areas.
