  • Romain Grosjean is set to return to a Formula One car on Friday, five years after his horrific 67G crash at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix.
  • The French driver, who miraculously survived the fiery incident, will participate in a test event for the Haas F1 team at the Mugello Circuit in Italy.
  • Grosjean will drive the 2023 Haas car, the VF-23, as part of the team’s TPC (Testing of Previous Cars) programme.
  • He will wear a helmet designed by his children, which was originally intended for his final Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi in 2020 but he was unable to use due to injuries.
  • Current Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu will be present, and F1 broadcaster James Hinchcliffe will also drive the VF-23 for an F1TV feature.
