Newcastle United sign Nick Woltemade in record deal
Eddie Howe admits he won’t have final say on Alexander Isak future at Newcastle
Newcastle United has completed a club-record signing of 23-year-old Germany international Nick Woltemade from Bundesliga side Stuttgart for £69m.
Woltemade, who was top goalscorer at the Under-21 European Championship and previously played for Werder Bremen, has signed a long-term deal at St James' Park.
This transfer marks Newcastle's fifth summer addition and is considered a key move that could facilitate Alexander Isak's potential departure to Liverpool.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe praised Woltemade's technical ability and potential, while Woltemade expressed his excitement about joining the club and playing at St James' Park.
Liverpool has already had a £110m bid for Alexander Isak rejected, but Woltemade's arrival provides Newcastle with cover should the Sweden striker force a move.
