The Cross and Bagley's have so far dominated the club scene in King's Cross but now there's a new face in town (well actually it's bit of an old face really) with the re-opening of the Scala.

Take one crusty cinema that specialises in all-night cult flicks; add four years of negotiations and wranglings before unveiling a multi-media venue offering club nights, live music, dance, film, art and food.

Under the watchful eye of supremo Sean McLusky, the Scala has been brilliantly re-designed with a main dancefloor that grabs your attention on entry. Further investigation reveals a myriad of rooms and bars, including a restaurant.

Tonight's opening gig is Sonic Mook Experiment (which will run every Saturday) featuring James Lavelle, Richard Fearless and Barry Ashworth. As the venue carves itself out a reputation, watch out for a wide range of events on any night of the week.

As with all good opening nights, this gig is bound to be rammed with revellers hoping to join the party, so arrive early.

Tonight, 275 Pentonville Road, London N1 (0171-833 2022) 9pm-6am, pounds 8- pounds 10.
