Fantastic Beasts actor Eddie Redmayne names his favourite Harry Potter book and film

The actor is set to join JK Rowling's wizarding world in the upcoming prequel spin-off

Eddie Redmayne will be ingratiating himself into the Harry Potter universe this November as wizard Newt Scamander in the 1920s-set tale Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Of course, the Oscar-winning British actor is a fan of the original franchise, and in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, cited which of the adaptations is his particular favourite.

"My favourite film is probably the finale - Deathly Hallows - Part 2,” Redmayne revealed. “With the last two, they had something I kept rewatching, going back and watching Ralph Fiennes and Daniel Radcliffe do that extraordinary duel."

Unsurprisingly, Deathly Hallows - Part 2 is directed by his Fantastic Beasts director, David Yates.

When asked which of JK Rowling's novels he'd pick over the others, Redmayne opted for one of the series' earlier instalments.

“I suppose I’d go with the first. My little brother, when he was six-years-old, he would always read it, and it had that instant immersion into the world that made you release your imagination.”

Also starring in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton and Ron Perlman. It will hit UK cinemas on 18 November.

A release date for the planned sequel was announced earlier on this week.
