John Williams has seen an early cut of Star Wars: Episode VII and is about to begin work on the score.
As he conducted an orchestra in Boston on Saturday, the 84-year-old told the audience he would turn his attention to the sequel in a few weeks, though joked that even he didn’t know who Rey’s parents are.
According to MassLive, he accepted the invitation from Lucasfilm producer Kathleen Kennedy to return after The Force Awakens mainly because he was enchanted by actress Daisy Ridley's portrayal of Rey and does not want another composer scoring her scenes.
Williams led a performance or ‘Rey’s Theme’ at Tanglewood Music Centre, along with another The Force Awakens soundtrack piece, ‘The Jedi Steps and Finale’.

Williams has scored every single main Star Wars film, though the music for upcoming anthology movie Rogue One will come from The Grand Budapest Hotel’s Alexandre Desplat.
