Marvel officially pull its Inhumans film from schedule
The race of superheroes will have to wait for their standalone film
The caveat of unveiling a release schedule so far in advance is that the entire world will hold you to it. Succumbing to the intense production period it'll face over the coming years, Marvel has officially pulled its planned Inhumans film from its slate.
Originally announced to debut in 2018, Marvel's future output has been reassessed in the wake of its phase four announcement.
Probably not helping Inhumans' case was the deal Marvel struck with Sony which saw the studio able to integrate Spider-Man into new films - something it's wasted no time in doing: Tom Holland's younger incarnation of the web-slinger makes his debut in Captain America: Civil War which is released 29 April (our review of which you can find here).
Standalone film Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released next year with 19-year-old Tom Holland starring as Peter Parker and Robert Downey Jr. confirmed to appear as Iron Man alter ego Tony Stark.
Upcoming Marvel films
Show all 10Riffing off the success of Ant-Man in 2015, Marvel has also since added follow-up Ant-Man & the Wasp to its release slate.
Kevin Feige - head of Marvel Studios - recently suggested he didn't want an Inhumans film to go up against Warner Bros' new Indiana Jones film.
Fans don't have to wait to see the Inhumans - an entire race of superheroes - put into action, however; they are a key component in the ongoing TV series Agents of SHIELD. The film's release date was previously pushed to 2019 where it would have been released in between the Russo brothers' two Avengers: Infinity War films.
