Between the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, Han Solo and Leia Organa had a child (Kylo Ren) and split up.
However, in the JJ Abrams directed film, they fail to address why the star-crossed lovers broke off their romance, something actor Carrie Fisher has since explained.
Speaking at the Saskatoon Comic & Entertainment Expo, via NB, she said: “He smuggled way too much. And girls, I know you don’t want your husband smuggling, do you? Hanging out with the hairy guy too often. I think there are a lot of problems with that. He wouldn’t take me on that hyperspace thing enough… [that’s a] euphemism”

While being a highlight of the original trilogy, General Leia was barely seen in The Force Awakens, something that will hopefully not be the case in Star Wars 8. Better yet, with her inclusion in the upcoming film, that presumably means more wonderful Fisher interviews, something we look forward to greatly.
Meanwhile, in other Star Wars related news, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed there will be films based in the Galaxy far, far away every year until 2021 at least, meaning an ‘experimental’ anthology film in 2020.
