It's difficult dealing with icons, especially when you're domesticating them. Coco & Igor charts the love affair between designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel and composer Igor Stravinsky during his spell at her holiday home outside Paris.

These gigantic, tortured personalites are not best suited to the daily grind of flirting and bickering – the banalities of getting it on only de-mystifies them. This film could be about almost any slightly wretched philandering husband and his accomplice – which doesn't dull the pleasure of watching it unfurl, but detracts somewhat from the supposedly explosive union of two minds as great as these.
