Kanye West album The Life of Pablo is finally streaming on Spotify, Apple Music and Google Play
The rapper had previously insisted that he would never put the album on the streaming services
Kanye West’s latest album The Life of Pablo is finally streaming on Spotify, Apple Music and Google Play after debuting as a Tidal exclusive in February.
The US rapper had already made two new songs available on rival streaming services, “Famous” and most recently “I Love Kanye”, but the remaining tracks have now been added.
West previously insisted that the album would never be available to stream anywhere but Tidal, or be put on sale.
He claimed on Wednesday that The Life of Pablo had been streamed a massive 250 million times in just 10 days but the huge figure soon sparked a debate. Website HitsDailyDouble noted that should the number be accurate, every one of Tidal’s 3 million global subscribers must have played the record “in its entirety eight times a day every day for ten days”.
Instead, West could have been referring to the total number of individual song plays, but this is yet to be confirmed. He has since deleted his tweet, which read: “Pablo did 250 million…I’m tired of people old talking to me like I’m regular!”
Kanye West's greatest self comparisons
Show all 12West has been regularly updating The Life of Pablo, with latest improvements adding Sia and Vic Mensa to “Wolves” and giving Frank Ocean his own track, “Frank’s Track” as the album’s outro. Twelve of the 19 songs have now been remixed or undergone lyrical changes.
Tidal, owned by rapper Jay Z, launched a year ago on 30 March 2015 at a press conference featuring some of music’s most high-profile artists.
There is no word yet on whether a physical release for The Life of Pablo is planned.
