Could he be the next David Hare? His new political play, This House, about MPs during the hung parliament in 1974 opens at the National.

Known for Tory Boyz at the Soho Theatre about homosexuality in the Conservative Party, the playwright, from a mining village in Nottinghamshire, worked on the stage door of a local theatre when he submitted his first play at 21. “It feels like a slow bubble. I think other writers burst on to the scene fast, but the National feels like the next big step.”
