An original novel called Glee: The Beginning is one of multiple Glee-related books in the works from Little, Brown Books, announced Entertainment Weekly on June 9. The novel, a prequel to the hit musical TV show, is due out in September.

Glee: The Beginning will be the first authorized Glee book, with the novel and subsequent titles to be published through a deal with Twentieth Century Fox. The Beginning will apparently come with a double-sided poster, although no plot details have so far been announced.

An Amazon page reveals the release date for Glee: The Beginning as September 1. The second novel in the series, Glee: Foreign Exchange, has a listed release date of February 15, 2011. Both books, which will be written by Sophia Lowell, are available for pre-order on Amazon.

The hugely successful American television show Glee, about a high school singing club, just wrapped up its first season. The show won a Golden Globe for Best Television Series, Comedy or Musical, has attracted a roster of A-list guest stars, and has spawned several albums that have topped charts in the US and UK.
