David Bowie fans mourning his sad and unexpected death this week can take some solace in the knowledge that the music legend will live on in not one, not two but three episodes of Friends.
From Ross’s hilariously awful impression of the “Starman” singer in “The One With All The Haste” while wearing an earring in bed with Emily to Chandler’s embarrassingly brilliant rendition of “Space Oddity” in “The One Where Ross Can’t Flirt” and Joey’s backseat, even more cringeworthy performance of the same iconic song in “The One After Vegas”, it’s safe to say the Central Perk pals are big fans of the late, great Bowie.
These Ziggy Stardust moments were condensed into a video by a “bored” Friends fan in 2009. The clip has now resurfaced following the news that Bowie “died peacefully” aged 69 on Sunday after being diagnosed with cancer 18 months ago, unbeknown to all but a handful of people.
Bowie fans gathered in his hometown of Brixton, London on Monday night to celebrate his life and career with a mass singalong.
Bowie’s 25th album, Blackstar, was released on his birthday last Friday and has since been described as a “parting gift” by producer Tony Visconti.
“He always did what he wanted to do,” he said in an emotional statement. “He wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life - a work of art.”
