If you haven’t caught up with Doctor Who, you’ve been warned **Spoilers ahead**

In the latest episode, Face The Raven, Doctor Who’s companion Clara Oswald, played by Jenna Coleman, met a “gruesome” end and is not expected to return to the BBC show (although, you can never rule that out).

Attention has turned to who will replace her as the Doctor’s assistant, with many speculating that Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams will take the coveted role.

The 18-year-old recently appeared on the show as Ashildr, the resurrected viking girl, burdened with immortality after meeting the twelfth Doctor on one of his adventures.

Asked whether she would become his future companion on the Graham Norton, Capaldi refused to confirm or deny the rumours, in the process praising the actress.

“I can't answer questions like that but Maisie is fantastic,” he said. “She's been in Game of Thrones since she was 12 and is very assured.

"I was doing a shot with her and when they called 'action' she slightly pulled me back. When I asked her what she was doing she said, 'You were in my light.' But she is lovely.”

Speaking about the Clara leaving the show, he revealed how sad the sad the episode is, confirming that she may not come back to the series: "Sometimes people can't come back. Sometimes things happen that they can't come back from."

“He knows this is a young women not like him who is addicted to his life style, and as the doctor says, ‘she’s just more breakable’ than he is.”

We can think of one person who’s unbreakable in the Doctor’s universe…
