So Tom Hardy is getting back in touch with his London roots?
He’s half-destroyed Gotham City in The Dark Knight Rises and plunged through the depths of the subconscious mind in Inception but now Tom Hardy is set to return to more modest climes. The star has confirmed that he definitely will be taking on the challenging task of simultaneously playing the notorious East End crime twins, Ronnie and Reggie Kray, in a new depiction of the notorious gangsters’ lives.
So how will that work?
He is keeping the technical details firmly under wraps, but the film, which is to be titled Legend, is expected to deliver some very clever camera work and a probably a large amount of CGI. But dual roles are a tried and tested formula in theatre and on-screen. The skill will be in working out how to give each character their own identity and he said yesterday that he was “on that right now”.
He certainly knows how to pull off an intricate portrayal.
A man in the limelight, Hardy is currently drawing in rave reviews for another equally challenging performance as the only on-screen actor in Locke, which premiered this week. He said: “The more of a challenge I give myself, the easier it is to take on more projects which are complicated in the future, if that makes sense.” But he said he wasn’t going “to put too much pressure on myself, I just want to have some fun and see what’s out there and explore with the work”.
He sounds pretty confident about it.
Cautiously optimistic. He said he hoped Legend would turn out as well as Locke but added, “[...]you can’t predict the outcome of these things and I wouldn’t pretend to.”Reuse content
