Marks & Spencer has imposed a purchasing limit on its new snow globe gin due to how popular it has proven.

The new gin liqueur comes in two flavours, clementine and rhubarb. Both products contain 23-carat edible gold leaf, which creates a sparkly snow globe effect.

At £18 per bottle, the snow globe gin has proven so popular among M&S shoppers that the retailer has now limited shoppers to two bottles per person, a spokesperson confirmed to The Independent.

However, shoppers have since complained on Twitter that they cannot seem to find any M&S stores that have stocks of the snowglobe gin, which is currently not available to purchase online.

“Hi @marksandspencer, trying to find snow globe gin, but despite calling into our nearest store regularly for the past three weeks, a 20-mile round trip, they never have any in stock, and I cannot buy it off your website. Any thoughts?” one person tweeted.

A spokesperson from M&S replied via Twitter that the gin had since sold out online.

Another shopper asked the retailer: “Is there ANY way I can get hold a darned Clementine snowglobe?? My wife is going potty for one! (And I'm going slowly deaf!!)”

A spokesperson replied that the gin had been “mega popular” and asked for the shopper’s post code to check if any of their local stores had the gin in stock.

However, after revealing their postcode, the shopper was told that the gin wasn't in stock at a single M&S store within 25 miles.

“Hopefully there will be a re-stock and you'll be able to get your hands on one,” the spokesperson for M&S added.

One shopper asked the retailer if it could reserve a bottle of the gin for them.

“I'm a disabled person who is trying to get one of your clementine bottle of gin,” they tweeted.

“I've been to three stores early in the morning on the bus and they have sold out. I'm desperate to get one but staff are unsympathetic to me. Can one reserved into the store pls?”

An M&S spokesperson replied: “We're really sorry to hear this. We're not reserving the gin due to the availability but if you can let me know which stores you have been trying then I can look into it for you?”

After the shopper shared their local shops, the spokesperson confirmed that none of them had stock of the gin.

The Independent has contacted M&S for further comment.
