This raw food cut into 98 perfect cubes is a minimalist's dream

I want to eat all my food in cube form

Dutch artists Lernert and Sander precision cut 98 types of raw food into perfect 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm cubes, and the result is an oddly satisfying checkerboard that is simultaneously clinical and mouth-watering.

The final photo was commissioned by Dutch newspaper de Volkskrant for a food-themed documentary special, with ingredients ranging from steak and tuna to watermelon and kiwi.

Personal highlights

- The pleasing curvature of the red cabbage

- The surrealism of the sweet corn

- The crisp skin of the fish

- Thinking about how sharp the knife used for this must have been
