CM Punk confirmed for WWE 2K15, feud with John Cena will be playable in 'mini-documentary' style

Retired wrestler will feature in epic rivalries 'Showcase' mode

He may be out of the WWE ring for the foreseeable future, but CM Punk will continue to feature in the company's games, with 2K today confirming that the wrestler will appear on the WWE 2K15 roster, playing a major part in its 'Showcase' story mode.

Two key rivalries will play out in the game, Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels from 2002 to 2004 and John Cena vs. CM Punk from 2011 to 2013, each taking in 33 matches interwoven with live action interviews and other cut-scene elements.

There had been some speculation over whether CM Punk would even feature in the game at all after he allegedly stormed out on the company in January, but his inclusion is unsurprising given that WWE games have always featured Superstars past and present.

"The moment Triple H ended his longtime friendship with ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ by slamming him with a Pedigree was a defining moment in WWE history,” said Chris Snyder, Vice President of Marketing at 2K.

"No fan can deny the fierce competition marking the notorious battles waged between Cena and Punk. These two rivalries are firmly etched in WWE history, and 2K Showcase enables fans to take part in those memorable experiences."

2K spent a lot of time getting the player likenesses as detailed as possible, with Shawn Michaels joking that in his 25 years of wrestling he had never had as many cameras on him as when he sat for the face capture.

WWE 2K15 is set to launch on October 28th for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in the US, with an international release including UK expected 31 October 31, 2014. A 'Hulkamania' collector's edition will be available with a boat load of extras including a piece of ring canvas from Monday Night RAW.
