The future starts here
Saturday 02 January 2010
2010. It sounds so futuristic, doesn’t it? And given the torrent of hi-tech tricks coming our way this year, it looks like we’ll be playing with the toys of tomorrow today (well, some time in the next 12 months at least...) Motioncontrol will finally be at our fingertips, whatever console we use.
Sony is launching its sensor- based controller in spring, while Microsoft aims to release Project Natal, its ambitious movement-based controller, in the second half oftheyear. 3Dgamingis set to boom, withSony planning athree-dimensional update for the PS3 in 2010, aswell as 3D televisions from Panasonic heading toawallmount near you. On the small scale, iPhone gamers will have the chance to play the firstmobile MMORPG with the launch of ‘Tibia Micro Edition’ in the next three months. Rumours abound that Microsoft will create a handheld console, while gossip about Apple’s as-yet-tobe- confirmed tablet grows. The future’s bright and it’s coming soon.
