Fart apps are banned from the Apple Watch, Apple has been forced to say as it rejected an app that allowed the watch to be used as a remote control for playing the sounds of flatulence and embarrassing others.

“Fart.Watch” was intended to allow the watch to control noises emitted from the phone, so that it could be left in compromising positions and work as an electronic whoopee cushion. But Apple — presumably as part of its aim to promote an elegant and fashionable feel for the Watch — banned the app.

“We noticed that your Apple Watch app is primarily a fart app,” the company said in its rejection notes, according to blog Cult of Mac. “We do not accept fart apps on Apple Watch.”

There is a huge number of similar apps for the iPhone, which function as soundboards so that they can be used to make such noises. But the review process for the Apple Watch appears to be much more stringent — a likely result of Apple’s aims for the product, as well as its more limited processing capabilities and it still being a new product.

The makers of the app claimed that it was going to “revolutionize fart sound delivery in a beautifully designed and intuitive interface”. They had “packed dozens of high-quality, lossless fart sounds into one tiny device”, they claimed.
