Top iPhone apps for 2010: Facebook, Angry Birds

In 2010 social networking application Facebook gets the award for the most popular free iPhone application in the US and bird-catapulting game Angry Birds is the most popular paid application.

Analogue photography tool Hipstamatic gets the award for Apple's iPhone App of the Year and Zombie strategy game Plants vs. Zombies has been selected as Apple's iPhone App Game of the year.

The lite version of popular bird-catapulting game, Angry Birds Lite is the second most popular free application overall followed by Scrabble-like word game Word With Friends Free, VoIP calling application Skype and the third edition of the music game Tap Tap Revenge.

The list of top selling paid applications for 2010 is dominated by games with Doodle Jump - BE WARNED: Insanely Addictive!, Skee-Ball, Bejeweled 2 + Blitz and Fruit Ninja all making it into the top five overall winners in the US.

Apple has also released its list of top selling music and iPad apps, which can be found in the iTunes store under "Rewind 2010."
