Trendy tote

Many of the big labels offer their design classics tweaked to suit your furry friends, giving you the chance to tote your pet in Gucci-monogrammed luxury (£680). There's a short lead with a clip inside this dog bag, in case Rover spots a pretty-in-Prada pooch on the other side of the road and tries to make a run for it. You can also buy a matching collar (£120).

Posh polo

Ralph Lauren has brought its logo-laden polo shirts to the canine world, allowing your dog to rock the preppy look, too. For $40, you can choose from metrosexual pink and white stripes, pastel shades embroidered with the designer's pony symbol, or a patchwork block-colour pattern with an added "flirty flounce".

Fine dining

If your pet is a fan of sharp lines and minimalist chic, then this Mija "Wowbow" dog table from Harrods (costing a cool £239) is guaranteed to delight. And should dear Fido need a little lie-down on the world's most luxurious suede dog bed after he has stuffed his face, you'll only have to fork out a further £1,200.

Fancy pants

If your pet is more party animal than pampered princess, then pay a visit to Max and Margot (maxandmargot.co.uk), who sell a great range of fancy dress and formal wear for dogs. Choose between an elf outfit, bridal gowns, tuxedos, tie and collar sets, satin ruffled "panties" or even a £25 penguin suit. The "ultra-soft" fancy dress penguin outfit is made from stretchy fleece and comes complete with a beaked hood, bow tie and little wings. It is available up to size XXXL – who says that Great Danes can't have fun, too?
