The deal

Skipton Building Society has reduced interest rates on a number of it's two, three and five-year fixed-rate mortgages by up to 0.20 per cent, such as a two-year fix with a 60 per cent loan to property value (LTV) at 3.18 per cent, 3.58 per cent for a 75 per cent LTV or 5.48 per cent at a 90 per cent LTV. A five-year fix with an 85 per cent LTV comes in at 4.69 per cent.

The pros

The five year deal is a particularly good rate.

The cons

Although Skipton's fixed rates have come down, most of these don't stack up against market leaders, and some are only available for purchases not remortgages.

Skipton has brought these products into line with the rest of the pack but this a fairly mixed bag of deals that won't generally worry the best buys.
