'They have incredible detail but a lot of them have a very dark side,' Jonathan Humbert, of JP Humbert Auctioneers, Northants said

Around 100 pieces of "fantasy reality" works by the man who now goes by the name of Charles Salvador are set to go up for sale on 9 October.

As part of a personal cleanse, the notorious prisoner formerly known as Charles Bronson, is auctioning off his surrealist life’s work ̶ as well as prison diaries, signed poems, psychiatric reports, clothes, books, photos and a piece of his beard ̶ in order to kill his former self off once and for all.

These include pencil sketches of Simon Cowell and one of Prince Charles, saying: "I must have a word with mummy about freeing that Charles Bronson chappie."

The works make up part of a collection of items sent to his beloved mother Eira, 85, and other family members over the past 15 years.

"They have incredible detail but a lot of them have a very dark side," Jonathan Humbert, of JP Humbert Auctioneers, Northants said.

"He has told his family all previous artwork is from Charles Bronson and ordered them to get rid."

"He has now renounced violence and in his own words, wants to 'kill off Charles bronson'.

"While he has never murdered anyone, he has led an alternative life.

"We've sold paintings by the Krays before but I think even they would admit they are quite basic.

"What sets My Salvadore aside is that undoubtably his work comes from an intelligent but troubled mind and there is artistic merit there as well."

Among the pieces sold is a signed statement dated on the 28 July that confirmed he had "killed Bronson off once and for all".

Part of the proceeds from the sale will apparently go to the Keech Cottage Hospice in Luton and the Brain Tumour Charity.

Salvador was jailed for seven years in 1974 for robbery, but became famed for his attacks on inmates and prison officers, as well as inciting riots.

As a result, he has spent 36 of the last 40 years in solitary confinement.

He is currently serving a life sentence in Full Sutton Prison in York.
