The director of the popular legal drama Law and Order has been arrested in connection with the possession and distribution of indecent images of children.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore released a statement on Wednesday afternoon announcing Jason “Jace” Alexander had been charged with one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child and one count of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, according to Yahoo.

The father-of-two’s arrest came after an investigator allegedly traced the downloading of child pornography to an IP address at his home. A search warrant was then obtained and his home was searched.

A statement from DiFiore said: "A forensic examination of computers and external hard drives removed from the location revealed digital files of children who are less than sixteen years of age engaged in child pornography."

Alexander is due to appear in court in Dobbs Ferry, New York, on 19 November.
