Orlando Bloom has finally been allowed into India after being deported the day before for not possessing a valid visa.

Bloom was reportedly placed on a flight back to London after he arrived at New Dehli international airport without the correct paperwork.

However, the Lord of the Rings actor was allowed to return just one day later following an intervention from the external affairs ministry who provided him with a special visa.

The 38-year-old was visiting the country after accepting an invitation from Amar Singh, a politician in the Uttar Pradesh region.

Mr Singh told the Economic Times of India Bloom’s original visa application proved invalid as he didn’t get a reply from his e-visa application and his office assumed he would be granted one on arrival.

“Being a Hollywood celebrity, he has never faced such treatment in any other country. His office was never informed that the visa has been rejected for whatever technical fault and they are not used to the intricacies of the Indian system.”

Mr Singh criticised the way the situation was handled by immigration officers and said Bloom had been treated rudely, despite suffering from a stomach ache that required medical assistance.

Mr Singh said the actor was left “quite sad about the turn of events”.

However, a day later Bloom and Mr Singh visited the iconic Taj Mahal, signalling a positive turn of events.

Bloom told reporters at the landmark it was “an amazing building”.
