Why we love Usain Bolt

Truly great sportspeople transcend their field and Usain Bolt has undoubtedly done this.

He will go down in history for unprecedented athletic achievement, from gold medals to breaking world records, but he will be remembered for much more.

Let’s start with that pose. Poses are often ridiculed but this is celebrated worldwide, even President Obama wanted to cop that.

Bolt effortlessly enjoys the limelight and always treats the audience to a show.

On the track it’s all smiles, fist bumps and pranks; he never seems to be phased by the occasion - even after being wiped out by a Segway.

Off the track, he makes broadband adverts interesting and is lauded by the media wherever he goes.

Most recently at his pre-Olympic press conference, a Norwegian journalist serenaded Bolt before admitting to being in love with him.

And that wasn’t even the most outrageous incident.

Bolt also treated journalists to a quick tutorial in samba dancing, giving the impression that defending his Olympic crown is not even a priority. What next?
