Rupert Murdoch, one of the top media executives in the world, is stepping down from his perch as CEO of 21st Century Fox, according to people close to the matter.

The 84-year old CEO and controlling shareholder of the media conglomerate will hand the title to his son James, CNBC said. James is expected to take control of day-to-day operations, while Rupert's other son, Lachlan, will be co-chairman and will oversee long-term strategy.

While the elder Murdoch will be most remembered for creating his media empire, he's had some fairly memorable - and controversial - moments on Twitter. Below are 10 of his most controversial tweets.
