Highest resolution picture of the Moon
Show all 6NASA has released the highest resolution near-global topographic map of the moon ever created.
The map shows the surface shape and features over nearly the entire moon with a pixel scale close to 100 metrs (328 feet). A single measure of elevation (one pixel) is about the size of two football fields placed side-by-side.
Independent.co.uk has gone through the archives to bring you pictures of the Moon which reveal how our vision of it, and the detail telescopes and cameras can capture, has changed in the last 100+ years.
