Norfolk hit and run: Police release 'shocking' CCTV of attack on pedestrian

Incident treated as attempted murder after is intentionally driven twice at 30-year-old man

Police have released CCTV footage of a “shocking” hit and run attack in Norfolk in a bid to catch the driver responsible.

The incident is being treated as attempted murder, after a car was intentionally driven at a 30-year-old man walking through a car park with two friends.

In the video, a blue Peugeot 307 can be seen speeding around a corner before entering the car park and hitting the victim, throwing him up to 15 feet through the air from the point of contact.

The car then turns around and drives at the victim a second time. Despite suffering a broken pelvis and serious leg injuries in the initial impact, the man can be seen crawling out of the way of the second attempt just in time.

Norfolk Constabulary said the incident took place at 12.55am on Saturday 23 July in the Vicarage Car Park in North Walsham. The victim survived the apparent attempt on his life, and remains in a stable condition in Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

Detective chief inspector Stu Armes said: “The footage we have released today is shocking and I appreciate some people could find it distressing.

“However it reflects the seriousness of the incident and how it could have had potentially fatal consequences for the victim.”

Police said there could have been up to three other people in the car with the driver at the time, one of whom was believed to be female.
