Two men have been charged in connection with the shooting of a British couple on holiday in Barbados, local police said.

Cruise passengers Ann Prior, 59, and her husband Philip, 72, were blasted in front of horrified fellow tourists during a robbery on the Caribbean island on Sunday.

Police expect the two suspects to be brought before a court in the next 24 hours.

Their identity has not been revealed.

Inspector David Welch, of Royal Barbados Police, said: "Two persons have been charged.

"One person was charged with serious bodily harm to two visitors.

"He has, in addition, been charged with another man, with the offence of robbery."
