Wardens at Full Sutton prison injured after four-hour stand-off with inmates
Warders received treatment for non-life threatening injuries
Two prison officers have been attacked after a four-hour stand-off with inmates at a maximum security prison, the Ministry of Justice confirmed today.
One warden was reportedly stabbed during an attack involving three inmates at Yorkshire’s Full Sutton jail yesterday afternoon.
A Ministry of Justice spokesman said: “An incident involving three prisoners took place at HMP Full Sutton on 26 May from 4.25pm and was successfully resolved at 8.40pm after staff intervened… A police investigation is on-going.”
A Prison Service spokeswoman told the BBC that the warders received treatment for non-life threatening injuries but did not confirm that those included stab wounds. She also refused to comment on the identity of the attackers.
The Prison Officer's Association said there were conflicting reports about how many officers were involved in the attack, and said they would be sending a national representative to the prison later today.
