Some Londoners were unphased by the impressive explosion, however.
Graphic designer Jon Mark Deane, who lives locally, said the incident happened "round the corner" from him.
"Didn't wake up," he added.

The incident was tackled by a fire crew from nearby Dockhead Fire Station.
Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
