Glow-in-the-dark supercar gets ANOTHER ticket

The famous Lamborghini was impounded last week and presented as a trophy in police crackdown on uninsured drivers

London’s gaudiest supercar was back on the streets of the capital today – and immediately slapped with another penalty ticket when its owner left it in Mayfair.

The £300,000 glow in the dark purple Lamborghini was first seized by police last week when officers claimed the driver had no insurance. It was later saved from destruction when the unknown owner reportedly presented proof of coverage.

But not before Scotland Yard made an example of his Tron-inspired machine. After being impounded, the car was put on display with the banner “uninsured vehicle seized by police” plastered across the windscreen to deter illegal driving.

An onlooker passing by the Met's office told The London Evening Standard: “I was walking past when it was craned in to the Scotland Yard forecourt and a huge crowd had gathered on the pavement behind the police tape.

“You've never seen so many smiling faces on a central London crowd of workers out at lunchtime. It made everyone's day.”

After it was reclaimed by the owner, who is believed to be a wealthy Qatari, the car was spotted in Mayfair – with Penalty Charge Notice – and later this morning outside the Dorchester hotel in Park Lane.

A Met police spokesman said: “Police are cracking down on uninsured vehicles and have the technology to act swiftly where are they found to be breaking the law.”
