A British soldier killed in Afghanistan on Friday has been named by the Ministry of Defence as Corporal Alex Guy.
The serviceman, 37, from the 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment, died in Helmand province while trying to help members of the Afghan army under insurgent fire. His wife, Emma, said: "Alex was kind. A happy, full-of-life and kind-hearted man." Cpl Guy had enlisted when he was 18.
